Species and characteristics
Members of subg. Brevantherum are characterised by being
- large shrubs or small trees
- their lack of prickles
- their stellate hairs, usually dense
- entire leaves
- their corymbose inflorescences
- their pubescent fruits
There are only 3 species representative of this group in Australia, all of them introduced: S. abutiloides, S. mauritianum and S. erianthum.
